Special features of the organization

Kerala Educational Development and Employment Society (KEDES) established in 1983 aims to reduce poverty by investing in the development of human capital with the aim of building skills and making knowledge available to all members of civil society for longterm sustainable development.KEDES encourages, and assists villagers to set up rural and small industries under the Micro & Small Industries Programme of the Govt. of India so as to give relief to the poor by providing full-time or part-time employment after imparting necessary training and ensure fair and reasonable wages. The emphais of KEDES is in organising vocationa, skill based training, ICT controlled education/online education that are employment oriented apart from providing general awareness for inclusive growth. In this respect CAPART, of the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India had assessed the functioning of KEDES in 2008 and published its success stories. This is the first in Kerala and 52nd in the country since the inception of CAPART in 1986.
