Kathakali School

Kathakali School, a centre for performing arts and culture is situated in Cheruthuruthy, Kerala, India since 1990. It is the unified effort of a group of the alumni of Kerala Kalamandalam led by Kalamandalam Gopalakrishnan. The Kathakali School staff are highly qualified and eminent performers. We are primarily a teaching institution and the school concentrates on the classical performing arts of Kerala, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam and Theyyam along with several folk and martial arts forms like Kalaripayattu. , Kathakali School has performed in almost every continents. In India the school has conducted a number of programmes and workshops for Government and Private Organizations at all major Indian cities. The main workshops were conducted at Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad at various times for CCRT, Govt of India. The Kendra Sangeetha Nataka Academy has also conducted workshops with the school. Kathakali School usually participates in partnership with Kerala Tourism at several places in India. We are also participants in the Govt. of India Cultural Exchange programmes with schools abroad. The south and north zone cultural centres frequently invite Kathakali School for workshops and performances. , We feel we have shared in the efforts to preserve and propagate the ancient art forms that define Kerala.
