JANARANJINI VAYANASALA , KOLANI.PO, THODUPUZHA. , Reg. No: I 262 / 1990 & 06/TDA/0598 , , Introduction. , , Kolani Janaranjini Vayanasala is situated in a rural area of Thodupuzha Municipality, 2 Kms away from Thodupuzha town. The institution was got inaugurated on 11th February 1949 by Smt. J.Thankam, the then Organiser of Travancore Grandhasala Sanghom. Now this is the first in the district in collection of Books. The library was started at first in a building owned by NSS and now the library has two buildings having 240 Sq.meters and 60 Sq. meters in its own 10.2 cents of land. , This institution had won the State level award, D C PURSKAR, of Kerala State Library Council for the best Rural Library in the year 2000. , This institution has got the District Level award in the year 2008 from Nehru Yuva Kendra for the best Voluntary Organisation in the district. , And also had won the District level award of Kerala State Library Council for the best Library in the year 2013-14. , This institution had also won the State level award, I.V.DAS PURSKAR, of Kanoor District Library Council for the best Library in the year 2014. , ACTIVITIES , LIBRARY , This institutions main activity is funtioning Library. This A grade library have at present 30562 Nos. of books valued Rs. 12,64,119/- and 1649 members. And also Furniture and equipments valueing Rs. Rs. 5,91,566.80 in library stock. , , READING ROOM , The existing reading room of this library is functioning from 6 am to 9 pm on all days. There are 9 Dailies, 9 weeklies, 4 employment news journals, 10 children s periodicals and more than 19 other periodicals are available here for the public. , BALAVEDI - CHILDREN S LIBRARY , Children s books and other publications are available in this section. A color T.V. has also provided to this section. There are 123 members and 9123 books are available in this section. , , WOMENS SECTION , A well maintained women s section is functioning with the assistance of Kerala State Library Council and they are conducting various programmes for the empowerment of women in every year. , REFERENCE SECTION , This division includes all kinds of books relating to various branches of knowledge. This section is being benefited to many students and job seeking youths as well as general public. , ARTS & SPORTS CLUB , A club named Renjith Rural Recreation Club is functioning under the control of the library. , , SEVANA - THE RURAL INFORMATION CENTRE , , As part of a project of Kerala State Library Council, libraries functioning in rural areas have to be converted as The Rural Information Centre with the help of modern information , technology. This library is also converted as a Rural Information Centre. All facilities of computer oriented technology including Internet Broad Band Connection have been provided in this centre to rural public. , NEHRU YUVA KENDRA RURAL INFORMATION TECNOLOGY YOUTH DEVOLOPMENT CENTRE , , The NYK Youth Development Centre functioning in this library is upgraded to Rural Information Technology Youth Development Centre. , NEHRU YUVA KENDRA VYPPTA INFORMATION CENTRE & RED RIBBON CLUB , The NYK VYPPTA Information centre and Red Ribbon club functioning with the support of Thodupzha I.M.A. Blood Donors Forum is working along with this section. , , SCHOLARSHIP , , Every year give a Scholarship to the best student pass secondary examination with the help of Dwandwadari Vidyasala, Thodupuzha. , , VAYOMITRRAM , , A Govt. health project for senior citizens also working in the library building named Vayomitram. , OTHER ITEMS , Other important divisions functioning under this library are Gandhian Literature Wing, Agricultural Books Corner, Forestry Desk, Kudumbasree Ayalkootam, Dance class, Tution class, Musical instrument class etc. , OTHER PROGRAMMES , As part of this Library we are conducing Educational Programmes, Orientation Classes, Quiz and other Competitions for children etc.
