The JSS at Rourkela was set up in early 1983 first one in Orissa , Registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 as per the Guidelines of the Government of India , A district level resource support agency for vocational training , Organizes short duration, practice oriented vocational and technical courses more than 75 types , Encourages self-employment and co-employment , Organizes informal Activities for awareness building , Covers non-literates, neo-literates, ST, SC and women on priority basis in 17 Blocks of Sundargarh District , Provides income generation training to special groups members of SHGs minorities, prisoners, under-trials etc. , Course fee is low and nominal and token participation fee for rural beneficiaries , Life Enrichment Education (LEE) components built into all courses , 55,000 beneficiaries in 26 years of which 77% is women, 10% SC, 50% ST , Conducts programmes in collaboration with different agencies/departments
