Special features of the organization

JSS ADRI was setup in April 2000 under the Central scheme of NLMA, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of HRD, Government of India. JSS, since then has been providing Vocational and Skill Development training and Life enrichment education to Non-literates, Neo-literates and socio-economically deprived sections of the society with special focus on women, SC/ST, OBC and Minority community in the rural areas and urban slums of Patna district with a view to empowering them for entrepreneurship development, self-employment and employment. , JSS ADRI on a regular basis has formulated and organised 15 vocational courses for six to one months duration. During the last about one and half decade JSS ADRI has imparted training to nearly 2000 participants every year in different trades of their liking. On an average the coverage of beneficiaries has been Women 85-90 %, OBC 40-50 %, SC/ST 18-24 % and Minorities Community 15-20 % , Over the years, however, with the growing needs of the target groups, new roles have been assigned to the Institute. JSS ADRI has been playing its designated roles and conducting programmes and activities in accordance with the guidelines provided by DAI, NLMA from time to time. , JSS ADRI is conducting programmes under various schemes. which, inter-alia include (a) imparting skill development and livelihood promotion based training in the villages adopted by 6 Members of Parliament under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), (b) mobilization of beneficiaries under Prime Minister Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), (c) orientation of neo-literates for the certificate course of National Institute of Open Schooling, and (d) skill development courses for promoting self-employment, based on curriculum, developed by the Department of Adult Education.
