Maulana Ghulam Mohammed Vastanvi lit the candle of Islamic education at Akkalkuwa; a small town situated around the foothills of Satpuda ranges Soon this candle transformed into sunshine and Jamia Islamia Isha atul Uloom emerged as the power house of knowledge in this country It has now gained a reputation of a renowned Islamic University offering all sections of Shariah Education Maulana Vastanvi did not limit his mission till the Akkalkuwa campus only he has gone far in the interiors of this nation to illumine the darkness of illiteracy Today Jamia has 89 residential Islamic schools where 29527 students are busy enlightening themselves with the noble teachings of Islam 120735 students have enrolled in 2685 Makatib spread all over India , After 15 years of persistent efforts in the field of Islamic education Maulana Vastanvi took the task of establishing the centers of modern education The journey began with an ITI followed by a Unani medical college The D Ed B Ed colleges along with Urdu English Marathi medium schools were set up in the next few years The Colleges of Polytechnic and Pharmacy were also initiated by Jamia Today the list of colleges run by Jamia comprises 3 ITI centers 3 Unani medical colleges, 2 colleges of pharmacy from diploma to the post graduation levels 2 polytechnics and an engineering college The total number of students registered in both streams of knowledge crosses 161227 mark which makes Jamia the only institute of its kind
