J.M. Institute of Speech & Hearing is a well recognized institute at the national level and has received national award under the category of best institution in 2004 from Govt. of India. , It was designated as Nodal Centre of Rehabilitation Council of India for Eastern Zone comprising of Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand. Rehabilitation Council of India is the statutory body of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for manpower development in the area of disability management and rehabilitation from diploma to PG level since 1992. , It was also Nodal Centre for National Trust for the welfare of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities, Govt. of India. , Foundation of Muzaffarpur Campus laid by Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam on 16th July 2009. , Nodal Centre of Rehabilitation Council of India for Eastern Zone (from 2000 to 2006). , Secondary level education through NIOS since 2006. , Vocational training through NIOS since 2009. , Running special school for hearing impaired and mental retarded children since 1989. , Running home for mentally ill adult women since 2014. , A School for HH & MR children (comprising formal education, Pre school intervention, functional and academic skill development, Diagnostics & Therapeutic intervention in Audiologoy, Speech Therapy, Physio-Occupational Therapy, medical psychological & vocational) aided by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India Since 1989. , Accredited to National Institute of Open Schooling, Govt. of India for Secondary level examination & Vocational training for Hearing Impaired and developmentally disabled children in inclusive environment since 2006. , Affiliated to BRA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur for conducting degree & post graduate level courses in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy & B.Ed. in special education. , Conducting various diploma level courses in special education for teacher education.
