International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) Activities Achievements- works with a mandate to promote organic agriculture. , Projects and Programs , Cluster Development; Certification and Market Linkages: , ICCOA has long experiences of developing farmer clusters in various regions/states. It works in collaboration with Dept. of Horticulture, Dept. of Agriculture, and through the supporting schemes of NHM, TMNE, RKVY, PKVY, MOVCD etc. , , C-SOF: CENTRE FOR SUSTAINABLE & ORGANIC FARMING: , A 10.5 acre land is being set up by ICCOA as a Sustainable and Organic Bio-Village Model by integrating Agriculture, Horticulture and Allied Systems. The centre has been established for demonstration, training and applied research on all aspects of organic agriculture. This centre is based in Kolatti village, 17 Kms from Denkanikota, and 75 kms from Bangalore. , RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY , , , i. System Comparison and Participatory Research, 2005-06. Scientific study/research on System Comparison between organic farming system and conventional farming systems was conducted on cotton and its intercrop/rotation crops during 2003-2005. , , ii. Research Project MoU with Govt. of Sikkim, 2009-2012:- ICCOA has signed a MoU for a Research project on Technology Intervention in Organic farming through System Comparison and development of Organic Package of Practices with the Govt. of Sikkim. , , iii. Research and Survey on Marketing of Organic Products: Market research on organic products was conducted by ICCOA in 2006 and published as The Market for Organic Foods in India . This study is a benchmark for market potential and is referred to in many international publications/articles. , , MARKET DEVELOPMENT WORKS , , i. Created market linkages for various Organic projects with many leading companies in India and abroad , , ii. ICCOA also has technical collaboration and partnerships with international organizations e.g. IFOAM, FiBL, NurnbergMesse , , TRADE FAIR, B2B AND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE SERIES , , , ICCOA has been instrumental in facilitating trade and marketing of organic agricultural produce from India by organizing India s biggest and exclusive annual event on organic agribusiness famously known as the India Organic Trade Fairs. Since 2008, this fair became the Biofach India together with India Organic International Trade Fair as ICCOA entered into an MOU with NumbergMesse of Germany. , , POLICY AND ADVOCACY , , , i. ICCOA is member on various committees for national and state policies on sustainable agriculture formed at the Centre through the Ministry of Agriculture and State Govts. , , ii. ICCOA is on the advisory committee of state policy on organic farming of state governments of Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tamil Nadu. , , iii. ICCOA is invited by the Confederation of Indian industries (CII) to be on the National Committee On Rural Development (NCORD) , , iv. Mr. Manoj Kumar Menon, Executive Director, ICCOA was elected as Vice President IFOAM-Asia in the elections recently held in Seoul, South Korea.
