Indian Trust for Rural Heritage and Development

In the first nearly three years of existence several projects have been initiated in six different states viz. Jharkhand, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan, Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh (including Telangana). Some of the major projects undertaken by ITRHD are as given hereunder: , , Establishment of a model primary school designed and built by the community in Hariharpur, Azamgarh; , Women s empowerment through training as teachers, nurses, community workers, thus enabling them to serve as agents of change; , Short-term skill training for unemployed village youth; , Technical and marketing support to rural crafts persons (potters, weavers and musicians) by financing equipment, providing skill upgradation and design input, and sponsoring exhibitions and workshops; , Seminars to focus public opinion on subjects such as future of handloom industry, rural tourism, vernacular architecture, role of youth in rural development. , Provision of safe drinking water in villages , Setting up of bio toilets in villages.
