Special features of the organization

INDIAN SOCIETY FOR BUFFALO DEVELOPMENT , The Indian Society for Buffalo Development is a society registered with Registrar, Firms and Societies, Haryana. The society has 625 life members and 28 benefactor members as of date. The major objective of the society is the advancement of all aspects of buffalo production at farms, institutes and farmers. The life members of the society include professionals like scientists, lecturers, extension workers, field veterinarians, farmers etc. having interest in welfare of buffalo and improvement of its productivity. , The society provides opportunities for the dissemination and exchange of knowledge and ideas through periodic organization of scientific meetings and deliberations. The Society also promote and participate in the development of buffalo production in association with organizations, national or international, having similar aims and objectives and maintain the liaison with international organizations like International Buffalo Fedration and Asian Buffalo Association. Besides National Seminars the society has organized 4 international events i.e 2nd WBC, New Delhi-1988; 4th ABC- 2003, New Delhi; International Buffalo Conference, New Delhi-2010 and Indo-China International Seminar-2010, Hisar. The societies also publish Indian Buffalo Journal biannually incorporating basic and applied research information on all aspects of buffalo husbandry. , Indian Society for Buffalo Development along with Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (a premier organization dedicated to buffalo research and development), SAUs, state Animal Husbandry Deptts and other organizations in the country organize events like Buffalo Melas, Kisan Gosthis and training for buffalo keepers. Based on competitions, incentives in the form of prizes, sponsored by ISBD, are awarded to those farmers who proudly possess true to the breed or near to the breed buffaloes. The society also strives to maintain liaison with other national and international organizations like Asian Buffalo Association and International Buffalo Federation having similar aims and objectives. At the time of its national or International Seminars the society honours personalities / organisations who have distinguished themselves in the field of Buffalo Research and Development in three categories viz. serving member category, retired member category and persons organizations working in the field.
