About the organization

Special features of the organization

HOLY HOME emerged as a non-profit making, non-political, secular and a Non-Government Organization by a group of young social activists committed to the cause and concern of the poor and marginalized people in Orissa in the year 1995. The organization over a period of 14 years has been working with the tribals, scheduled castes and other under privileged groups of the society in the state of Orissa. Illiteracy, ignorance, exploitation, bondage and money lending has marginalized the poor tribals down the centuries. Gradual alienation of their traditional rights over common property resources, appropriation of the development benefits by the vested interests has pushed them to virtual subsistence level. HOLY HOME has been in action over a decade and initiated community development programs in the remote tribal villages of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Puri districts of Orissa state. It has won over the trust and confidence of the people in its action areas and facilitated the emergence and growth of village level micro organizations to carry forward the developmental activities in the area. HOLY HOME has no doubt created an impact in the area through its small effort and with limited resources. Its effort towards arresting the exploitative forces has received overwhelming support of the poor, unprivileged especially of the tribal community. This has been distinctly evident from the type of issues taken up by the local groups and their struggle to ensure their rights and social justice in the past years.
