Special features of the organization
Helen Keller s High School for the Deaf and Rehabilitation Centre, Kadapa is a voluntary organization run by the Educational Society namely, Helen Keller s School for the Deaf, Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh State. This organization is working for Education, Rehabilitation and Manpower Development for the cause of Hearing Impaired Children. Helen Keller s School for the Deaf and Rehabilitation Centre, Kadapa started on 27.06.1984. This school is became Upper Primary School from the academic year 1989-90 and High School from the academic year 1991-92 and Higher Secondary School (Intermediate) from the academic year 2006-07. At present in this school 137 Hearing Impaired Children are studying from Pre-school to XII th Class (Intermediate). All the Hearing Impaired Children are providing with Free Education. We are thankful to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India for sanctioned and released Grant-in-Aid to our Helen Keller s School for the Deaf, Kadapa from the year 1991-92. , Our Educational Society has been conducting Free Speech and Hearing Medical Camps and awareness exhibitions on Hearing Impairment in different places in several times in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States and distributed Hearing Aids free of cost to many Hearing Impaired persons. , Under Manpower Development at Head Office, Kadapa our society is also conducting D.Ed. Spl. Edu. (DHH) Course from the academic year 1997-98, B.Ed. (SE-DE) HI Distance Mode Course from the academic year 2002-2003 and B.Ed. Spl. Edu. (HI) Regular Course from the academic year 2006-2007. , At that time in 1991-1992 there is no English Medium Special School for Hearing Impaired and Mentally Retarded Children in Secunderabad and Hyderabad (Twin Cities). To provide English Medium Education to Hearing Impaired and Mentally Retarded Children in the year 1991-92 our Organization has started a Branch in Secunderabad namely Helen Keller s School for the Deaf and M.R. Children, Secunderabad . We are thankful to the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India for sanctioned and released Grant-in-Aid to this branch from the year 1998-99. In this branch Free Education has been providing from Pre-School to Graduation to Hearing Impaired and M.R. Children. At present 643 Hearing Impaired and 33 M.R. & Multiple Disabled Children are studying in this branch. Under the Manpower Development this branch is also conducting B.Ed. Spl. Edu. (HI), B.Sc. (ASLP) and M.Sc. (ASLP) courses. , In recognition of our Organization s Best Services Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has awarded State Government Best Institution Award on 03.12.2005 in Hyderabad and Government of India has awarded National Award for Child Welfare on 14.11.2007 in New Delhi to Helen Keller s High School for the Deaf and Rehabilitation Centre, Kadapa. Several times with many Kadapa District Collectors Helen Keller s High School for the Deaf and Rehabilitation Centre, Kadapa has received Prasamsa Pathrams on the occasion of Independence and Republic Day Celebrations. Every year our Institutions Hearing Impaired Students are getting 100% result in 10th Class and above 80% results in Intermediate Public Examinations.
