Kathakali Chutty & Make up 3 years 1 year , Gandhi Seva Sadan Kathakali & Classic Arts Akademy is the second oldest Kathakali Institution of Kerala established during the year 1953 the first one being Kerala Kalamandalam. , During the past more than half a century of our existence, we can claim the proud privilege and rare honour of having produced a good number of renowned and top ranking Kathakali Artistes of Kerala. , It is worth mentioning here that some of the present and past staff members of International Centre for Kathakali, New Delhi are were the products of our Institution and all of them pre-fix Sadanam to their names. , As per G.O. (MS) No.131/18/Edn. dated 23.9.1978, the Government of Kerala has recognized the certificates issued by our institution in Kathakali Vesham, Music, Chenda and Maddalam at par with Kerala Kalamandalam for the purpose of employment under the Government, through PSC. , This is one of the few institutions of Kerala - if not the only one , which continues to strive to maintain the old classical and traditional form in teaching of Kathakali. That is why wherever our students go for any competition, they invariably bag almost all the prizes every where. , The Calicut University through their letter No.G.A.I/D3/90 dated 25.4.1995 have recommended to the Government of Kerala for starting a college for Kathakali in our institution because the expert committee sent for inspection found that we have all the infrastructure for starting the college of Kathakali here. But unfortunately the Government of Kerala has not taken a decision so far. You will be surprised to know that at present there are only two institutions in India, which give degree and post graduate degree in Kathakali, both in West Bengal, ie. Viswabharati University of Santhi Niketan and Rabeendra Bharathi University of Calcutta. , Land & Building: Sadanam Kathakali Akademy is the only Cultural Organization in Kerala other than Kerala Kalamandalam, which has more than ten acres of fertile and picturesque land of its own with perennial water supply and easily accessible by tarred road. , This is the only cultural organization in Kerala, which has a beautiful semi circular auditorium, having a seating capacity of about one thousand persons. We have all the necessary infrastructure facilities here to undertake any developmental activities in future.
