The Foundation for Action Motivation and Empowerment was founded in the year 2001 by Smt. Jamuna Raghavan and Sri.N.S.Raghavan [co-founder Infosys] to serve in the area of Neuro Developmental disabilities. At FAME we offer multidisciplinary services- Physiotherapy, Speech therapy, Occupational therapy, psychological counseling, Psychiatric services, Medico social work and special education. We are now one of the best institutions for people with special needs. We train them in Functional academics and vocational skills so that we are able to accomplish our mission - to optimize their potential and help them lead a life of dignity and self respect. , F.A.M.E. Swavalambana (An initiative of F.A.M.E. India) works with a vision to nurture the abilities of the differently abled and empower them . At FAME India the training, based on Individualized Educational Programme (IEP) prepares the child/individual in functional and pre-vocational skills. They are then ready to move into an open job placement or a sheltered work unit. FAME Swavalambana is one such sheltered work unit- an initiative of FAME India and was set up in 2009.It acts as an employment platform for the trained adults from FAME India and outside. , Close to 60 persons with special needs are with us now, trained in skills that help them to earn a livelihood. We have seen remarkable changes in their state of mind due to the economic empowerment. The feeling of being a contributing member in the family elevates their self - esteem. Our mission is to create an environment that is conducive for the differently abled individuals and support them to work effectively. We have taken a step ahead now to extend services by starting a new project in collaboration with Apna Haat - a group from Delhi.
