Special features of the organization

The CII Foundation was set up by CII in 2011 to undertake a wide range of developmental and charitable activities and initiatives pan India by enabling Industry for infusing inclusive development. Few of our significant projects include: , , Addressing the Sanitation Challenge Mission SoS , In 2014, CII Foundation (CIIF) launched Mission Sanitation in Schools (SoS) to the address sanitation challenge and support the national agenda of Swachh Bharat. As part of the Mission, the Foundation has been undertaking various on-ground initiatives by engaging companies and communities, both in urban and rural India. A number of interventions have been undertaken as part of Mission SoS, which includes construction of toilet blocks in Govt. schools, model public toilets in urban spaces and behavior change projects in villages and slums to make them open defecation free. , , Recognizing and strengthening grassroot women leaders - Women Exemplar Program , The Program, instituted in 2005, recognizes the contributions of women grassroots leaders, who have, against all odds, excelled and contributed significantly in the areas of Health, Education and Micro-enterprise. Each year, three extraordinary leaders are recognized as Woman Exemplars from among over hundred applications. In addition to the three exemplars, all the shortlisted candidates undergo series of capacity building workshops and individual mentoring plans are conducted to enhance the leadership capacities of the grassroots women leaders. , , Disaster relief and rehabilitation projects , , CIIF with the support of CII members have been closely working with the Union and State government to provide relief in disaster-affected geographies across the country. To further enable convergence of humanitarian aid and relief efforts from the corporate sector for efficient and quick response to natural disasters in India, CIIF has also developed an online inventory platform for Disaster Response for Mapping Corporate Sector Resources for disaster relief in India, http://disasterresponse-ciifoundation.in/ , , CIIF has also been undertaking need-based rehab interventions post natural disasters by converging support of a number of companies in the states of Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Tamil Nadu. Projects include livelihood interventions for impacted communities; rebuilding or repair of infrastructure of schools, anganwadis, and hostels; building disaster preparedness of communities. , , Strengthening the Civil Society Organizations by building capacities and providing facilitative environment to engage with industry , , CIIF realizes the need for enhancing the capacity of NGOs towards forming, strengthening and sustaining connects with companies. Towards the same, CIIF has been conducting workshops across the country. To further connect NGOs with companies an online platform, Sammaan has been developed in partnership with BSE and IICA. The platform lists NGOS and their projects that can be adopted by companies as part of their CSR programmes. , , The CIIF has also been undertaking numerous development projects customized to meet the CSR agenda of individual companies. These include programs around providing digital literacy to underprivileged students in schools across three states; improving nutrition and early childhood education at anganwadis; making solar enabled sustainable schools. The work have been supported, appreciated and strengthened by stakeholders from community, government and industry.
