The Changanacherry Social Service Society started functioning in the year 1966 in order to promote conduct and coordinate social welfare and development services aiming at the poor and deprived having obtained registration under the Charitable Societies Act with headquarters in Changanacherry Municipal Town Its area of operation lies spread in 5 Civil Districts of Kerala State namely Kottayam Alappuzha Pathanamthitta Kollam and Thiruvanandapuram , Vision A just society based on human values , Mission Sustainable development of the poor and the marginalized through community organization awareness and training Strategy Make basic services accessible to the poor by establishing sufficient linkages to public resources make the people at grassroots meaningfully involved in the socio political and economic processes gender specific interventions on womens rights and equity promotion of micro cooperative group credit dynamics propelled in to productive enterprises advocacy for environmental security , Major Activities , Formation and Strengthening of People s Organizations , Women Empowerment , Micro Finance and Community Banking , Natural Resource Management Agriculture and Animal Husbandry , Vocational Entrepreneurship Development , Community Health , Rural Employment and Income Generation , Housing and Sanitation , Welfare and Community based Rehabilitation , Family and Community Development , Community Based Disaster Preparedness , Major Accomplishments , The projects and programs of CHASS are by and large directed towards Sustainable Development both in content as well as integration It is envisaged that the people s rights are fulfilled so as to equitably meet their development and environmental needs encompassing generations The objectives of sustainable development are to provide for the economic well being of the present and future generations and maintain a healthy environment and life support system. It promotes that process of development which upgrade the quality of human resources reduces the disparities in lifestyle improve and maintains a healthy local environment and promote the social order which is participatory and community oriented In this connection we are to inform that we have maintained a direct contact and interaction with 75000 families of different religious groups through various grassroots level peoples organizations Around 2800 volunteers are rendering their dedicated service for the uplift of poor and marginalized along with the 120 actively functioning local units affiliated to CHASS
