Special features of the organization
Centre for Community Development (CCD) has been working since 1992 in 4 blocks of Gajapati District, Odisha State, India focusing on sustainable livelihood promotion, Natural resource management, women empowerment, promotion of micro enterprises, community based rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, child rights and good governance. We have been implementing various development activities and achieved the following measures. , , CCD has mobilised tribal women into SHGs and Cooperatives. Two cooperatives are running independently now benefiting around 3000 women. , Women SHGs and women federation are directly advocating with panchayat, block level officials and also bankers to get loan , Watershed development and promotion of sustainable agriculture and micro enterprises practices which has helped in increasing the production, income and reduction in migration. , 1624 poorest of poor tribals identified through wellbeing ranking analysis. Out of them, 753 households have directly benefitted through micro enterprises promotion and now getting daily income and enjoying financial rights , 79 unemployed youths have got different skill based training like tailoring, computer, mason, carpentry, driving etc. Out of them 63 have self employed. , 94 women SHGs are engaged in seasonal business activities. , 935 farmers have adopted improved technique in vegetable and horticulture cultivation , 19 drinking water projects have implemented and the women are now free from fetching drinking water from distance streams in 4 villages. Health and sanitation measures have been improved. , Release of 162 hectors of tribal s land from non-tribal , Land Development activities in 242 hector of Land. , Soil and water conservation measures in 52 villages like stone bunding, gully control, trench, terracing, bund plantation, check dam, farm fond ect.) , Plantation has been done in 712.99 ha for soil and water conservation measures and also to reduce green house gas emission. , Promoted SAMARTH, registered organization of disable people at District level for the overall development of the PwDs. , Out of 1093 PwDs, 518 PwDs are running their enterprises, agriculture, seasonal business and earning money independently and contributing to the family income. , 253 PwDs have been provided vocational skills. , , 67% of reduction in the prevalence of malaria was noticed in 50 villages from 2012 to 2015. , There is a reduction in fever deaths from 14 numbers in 2012 to 1 in 2014. , Community s knowledge on cause and prevention of malaria is increased with better access to health facilities of Govt. (NVBDCP/ICDS) , Personal protection measures by using Mosquito nets, repellents are adopted by community. , Received Prakruti Mitra-State Level Award for outstanding contribution in the field of Environment in the year 1998-99. , Indira Priyadarshani Brikshya Mitra National Level Award for outstanding contribution in the field of Environment in the year 2000-2001. , Received Jaya Prakash Narayan Samman Award , State level award for best Self Help Promoting agency in Gajapati in the year 2005-06. , State award for contribution for the promotion of PwDs. , State level award for its in contribution in the field of disability. , Accredited by Credibility Alliance.
