Special features of the organization

Twenty one editions begining November 2008. In 2017 we plan to reach 10 cities. Reached out to 25000 children in main festival and 16000 in outreach programme in 2016. OUtreach programme went to 175 schools which were a mix of language, underserved, government and private schools. The cities we go to are Delhi Srinagar Pune Kuching Malaysia Goa Ahmedabad Jaipur and Kolkata. Also conducted a storytelling workshop for over 100 librarians and teachers, called Kathakar. , Programme sessions in Bookaroo have included Dramatised reading, Theatre, Non-stop storytelling for younger children, Storytelling through puppet shows, Informal book launches by Indian authors, Craft activities, Comic making, Art and illustration workshops such as folk art, A doodle wall (a temporary installation where illustrators will create a panoramic picture with children), Environment-related workshops, Nature walks, Panel discussions with authors and children, Creative writing workshops, Poetry sessions, Sessions on the life and times of great Indians, Exhibition of illustrations from children s books. There have been enquiries for us to hold Bookaroo in south and south east Asia.
