Special features of the organization

BYPASS is an acronym for Bhopal Yuwa Paryavaran Shikshan & Samajik Sansthan . The core philosophy of the organization contained in five words of Yuwa Paryavaran Shikshan & Samajik Sansthan . This organization was keen to bring in young, well-educated and committed people for undertaking Paryavaran Shikshan which actually meant hands on learning through implementation of community led natural resource management and environmental education. The organization also intended to accelerate the universalisation of primary education of comparable quality by concentrating on mainstream primary education of rural children, in particular. The latter part of BYPASS stands for Samajik Sansthan , or a socially responsible and answerable organization. BYPASS envisioned mobilizing the disadvantaged community groups through effective and responsible grassroots institutions or CBOs by engaging them in NRM based activities, value addition of NTFP, self-help, and skill up gradation and livelihoods promotion. , BYPASS s thematic areas of operation , Community Based Natural Resources Management; , Watershed Area Development; , Poverty Alleviation; , Development of vulnerable social groups (tribe, dalit, women, children, PWD); , Primary and Adult Education; , Fostering Appropriate S&T Based Techniques and Tools; , Basic Sanitation; , Integrated Rural Development , , ACHIEVEMENTSImproved water availability increased crop intensity as well as diversification of systems with legumes and high-value crops along with increased private investments , Reduced runoff, soil loss, enhanced water use efficiency, INM, IPM and rehabilitation of degraded CPRs thru conservation measures also contributed in enhancement of natural resource base and sustainable development in the target area , Demonstrated power of science-led participatory process-based model to improve rural livelihoods through enhanced agricultural productivity and micro-enterprises development with sustainable use of natural resources in the target areas , Livestock-based and other allied sector income generating activities ingrained benefited vulnerable groups and reduced distressed migration , Organisation & Empowerment of vulnerable group to thrust their entitlements & meetout basic needs , Rehabilitation & inclusion of 153 PWDs , 12092 women organized & trained as 1024 SHGs , 20000 hectares of land treated under watershed development projects , Planted more than 100000 plants with support of community , Consultancy/ guidance/ capacity building support to more than 170 watershed projects , 460 CIGs organized, trained & engaged in income generation activities , 55 VDCs organized and trained (All having Women Managment) , 702 SHG women become literate (3R skills) , 91 PTA have been promoted & empower to manage educational issues , 101 VWSC are strengthened to develop and implement village sanitation plans , Inclusion of 153 PWD through linkages & networking , Promote & empower block level forum for PWD (PRAYAS)
