The people residing in slum & backward locality of North East Delhi face numerous problems and many of them gradually become victims of drug addiction and slip from bad to worse. The Sanstha has successfully bridged the gap between the Govt. and the beneficiaries and reached out drug addicts in getting them rid of their addiction habits besides working out for their rehabilitation. Keeping in view the huge need/ demand the 15 bedded de addiction centre was upgraded to 30 bedded de addicts centre. The sanstha has been associated in this field adopting various majors such as distribution of pumplets and leaflets, organizing services and group discussions, generating awareness campaign, visiting door to door of the dwellers etc. To tackle this psycho-socio-medical problem the sanstha has successfully adopted the approach of awareness generation, identification, treatment and rehabilitation. The thrust is on preventive educative programme to convert addicts as a normal person into the main stream of society. Addiction sanstha in collaboration with DSACS is running successfully the target intervention project for ameliorating the condition of injecting drug user and female sex workers and sanstha has helped more than 15000 injecting drug users and female sex workers. Such populace carries the high risk of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS hence they require special intervention, focus and follow up of the trained staff of Sanstha. , , Besides above our sanstha is an accredited vocational institution of National Institute of Open Schooling and sanstha imparts vocational training to women empowerment in garment and beauty culture which has benefitted the ladies/girls of poor families living in slums. The Sanstha has also carried out a campaign for the health checkup of school children under Chacha Nehru Sehat Yojana wherein during the year 2013-14 about 47,000 school children in Delhi have been screened. , , The sanstha has also carried out a campaign for Awareness to Rural consumers in 5 districts of Bihar namely Patna, Vaishali, Arval, Mujjafarpur and Nalanda during the year 2013-14 in collaboration with Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India.
