Special features of the organization

Asha Mahal is a short stay home for abused, battered ladies, sexually assaulted women and young girls above 16 yrs of age and unwed mothers who do not have any support. They are admitted either by police referrals or socially active people. This short stay home has been running since 1976 and has rehabilitated more than 1000 destitute women. The inmates receive training in handicraft making and sewing and designing course in association with Usha Silai Kendra. Workshops on mushroom cultivation, organic gardening, women health, diabetes and breast cancer, good parenting, and HIV AIDS awareness program are routinely conducted. NGO meet where topics like legal rights of women has also been held at Asha Mahal. We receive donations intermittently from various socially aware individuals, Rotary club and Lions club.
