About the organization

Special features of the organization

The main objective of the Institute is to serve as an instrument of rural development through the application of scientific knowledge and technology. Thus the primary activity is to develop, standardize, commercialize and popularize novel appropriate rural technologies aimed at improving the quality of life and the standard of living of the rural inhabitants of India. Special emphasis is laid on making traditional rural enterprises more profitable and on generating new businesses and employment opportunities in the rural sector. , The achievements of ARTI in the last fifteen years cover two aspects, namely development of innovative and appropriate rural technologies, and Rural Entrepreneurship Development. , , Establishment of REDC at Phaltan. , Hosted BFCS-2000, in Pune. , Core Support Grant from DST, GOI. , Ashden Award 2002 By Ashden Trust, U.K. , Establishment of WTP, under funding from Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. , Recognition as TRC, from CAPART, New Delhi. , Awardee of USEPA grant through International Partnership for Clean Indoor Air. , Ashden Awards 2006 for Sustainable Energy by Ashden Trust, U.K. , Vasantrao Naik Social Awards 2007 for Appropriate Technology for agricultural and rural development. , More than 70 Research & Development projects completed and developed & standardized about 35 technologies , 7th State Level Award for Excellence in Energy Conservation and Management , The Institution of Engineers (India) DSK Energy Award 2011 for outstanding contribution in energy sector.
