Special features of the organization
Animedh Charitable Trust ACT started out as a small but significant foundation to help the identified beneficiaries the underprivileged women and children, especially girls at individual, community and national levels. We pledge to ACT to make a difference and transform the lives of those less privileged around us. , We worked for the rural community development of women and children in a rural school, in collaboration with Untadi Vibhag Kelavani Mandal, Valsad. , We worked closely with Kshamata, a NGO working on rescue and rehabilitation of girls and women in distress and donated for skills development of eight girls for six months. , Our first ACT Community Centre started in Sainik Nagar, Andheri West for women , empowerment through vocational training and personality development. Tailoring and Beautician courses were initially offered. To date, we have spread the direct interventions in six centres across various low income suburbs in Mumbai. , Advance tailoring course was sponsored to encourage women to start commercial order execution from garment manufacturers. , Several tailoring machines were provided to extremely poor women to start their home enterprise. , Vocational support was provided to the Blind Humanities Society, Malad for purchase of special sewing machines for the visually challenged. Donated a laptop to encourage entrepreneurship in Manju Magoo, a visually challenged aspirant. , Many women were connected to jobs or livelihood through reference network. , Teachers of a vernacular government aided primary school, St. Catherines Primary School, were coached in order to enable them to help their students prepare for English and semi English syllabus in secondary section. , We have 7 vocational training centres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai where underprivileged women are taught a variety of vocational courses like tailoring, beautician, catering, computers and English speaking along with soft skills like personality development. , For childrens education, especially for the girl child, , We worked closely with St. Catherines Home, a girl child orphanage, to provide computer education and fee sponsorship for needy girl students. , Activities to promote education and academic excellence among orphan girl children began in St. Catherines Home by way of Creative summer workshops, NIOS study support, Computer Basics tutorship. Direct intervention activities started in slum rehabilitation community in Andheri East, by English tutorship to the communitys poor and needy children for more than three years. , To spread education among underprivileged children, especially girls, a unique, after school study support was started, The Study Buddy program, which offered one to one tutorship of poor and needy school students by College student volunteers to help them excel in English, Maths and Science. , Vision testing and correctional treatment was arranged for over 400 children in secondary school. , E learning set up provided to a Girls night school BMC through NGO Masoom to help reduce school fallout rate among girls , ACT sponsored 100 BMC school girls nutritious fortified breakfasts for one year in support of NGO Decimal Foundations Breakfast Revolution , , Higher education sponsorship was offered to meritorious Priya Negi, Paru Shanwar and Gita Koli for one to three years ongoing until degree completion.
