AMALA CANCER RESEARCH CENTRE SOCIETY

Amala Cancer Research Centre Society is a major research Centre mainly involved in research on cancer. Instituted in 1982 this Centre is run by Catholic Missionaries. It is adjacent to Amala Institute of Medical Sciences which has a medical college with PG degree as well as a nursing college. Amala Cancer Research Centre is recognized for Ph.D. studies in Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology by University of Calicut, Mahatma Gandhi University as well as Kerala University of Health Sciences and in fact nearly 100 students received Ph.D. on these subjects during the last 30 years. It has six dedicated research staff and several students with a total strength of 30. It is recognized by DSIR and centre received project grants from various scientific bodies in Government of India such as ICMR, DST, DBT, Department of Environment, NMPB, Atomic Energy as well as Kerala Science, Technology and Environment during the past years. Centre is mainly working in the prevention and treatment of cancer as well as mechanism of action using synthetic and plant derived drugs. Centre has published nearly 500 research papers during the last 30 years and students and staff have presented their work at various National and International Meetings in India and abroad. Centre has conducted several National meetings in the past including Annual Meeting of Indian Association for Cancer Research, Atherosclerosis Meeting, National Immunology Meeting and research staff in the Centre is very much known in the scientific community for their contribution. , Upcoming Indian Association for Cancer Research Meeting during February 9-11, 2017 will be attended by several National and International scientists of repute. In fact, we have invited nearly sixty senior scientists at the meeting who will be involved in the success of the meeting.
