Special features of the organization

Abhiyan has realized since its inception that women are the means to increased awareness generation in society. Women from these conservative purdah clad household s are today contesting elections and more than 200 have won. The women who won the election have also been provided training on leadership development and the functioning of the Panchayati Raj.The members of SHG groups in Abhiyan s contact are aware enough to send their children to schools. These women not only incorporate the immunization programs for their children but also motivate the women of whole village into vaccinating their children. These SHG members have also checked the manufacture, sale and consumption of liquor in their villages and this struggle is still ongoing. The women have also united against the atrocities on the women, which has resulted in the decrease in crimes against women in these villages. Above all, these women have availed the livelihood opportunities from the vocational trainings provided to them.Abhiyan has also helped around 550 persons out of the lowest income people or the people below poverty line in different districts of Bihar in taking the first step up out of poverty, by providing conditional seed capital and business training to the launch of a micro-enterprise. It is an effort to bring these people above poverty line. Abhiyan has expanded its work in more than 600 villages and 15 slums of Bihar and Jharkhand.At least 1800 Kosi flood affected families are in receipt of relief packages, meals, blankets, tents etc.
