The Social Media Analyst will provide strategic support to the overall strategy development, management and execution of UNFPA India’s external and internal communications and media outreach efforts.

You will report directly to the Communication & Media Specialist, under the overall guidance of the Chief of Policy, Advocacy and Partnerships Unit.

Primary Responsibilities include

Social media

  • Support the Communications and Media Specialist in designing and implementing impactful strategies to increase followers and subscribers, reach and engagement for UNFPA India profiles across all applicable social media platforms, particularly Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Manage the India CO social media accounts with quality, up-to-date content and information that reflect communications priorities and strengthen UNFPA’s position as a thought leader on gender, sexual and reproductive health and rights population and development issues;
  • Plan and execute social media campaigns on issues pertaining to UNFPA’s mandate and around key international days. Develop campaign concepts, set objectives and key messages.
  • Boost key posts and run ad campaigns on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to increase followers, page likes, reach and engagement;
  • Manage partnerships with social media platforms, plan activities in collaboration with thematic units, UNFPA-focused states, and ensure the content development, messaging and brand guidelines are followed;
  • Monitor and moderate comments on social media posts, intervening as appropriate to answer questions and guide the conversation;
  • Practical, hands-on training of colleagues in the use of social media effectively, including Country Representative, Senior Managers and field-based communicators.
  • Collect and analyze social media metrics to gauge reach, engagement and other performance measures for social media posts, accounts and campaigns, helping to inform results-based decision making and drive the effective use of resources.

 

Content curation and storytelling

  • Liaise with vendors and partners and lead the development  of high-impact social media content including graphics, videos and other multimedia formats that effectively informs and engages external audiences and supports media and advocacy campaigns;
  • Produce social media content from the field, including photos and short videos that showcase UNFPA India’s work and the impact created in the field;
  • Identify and engage with relevant social media influencers to support and promote UNFPA’s work; conduct due diligence, organize and facilitate their involvement and participation in key UNFPA events, campaigns and online activities.
  • Activate and mobilize youth networks in UNFPA states to actively contribute to content development and production, and online campaigns. 
  • Curate, produce and disseminate “On Track”, tri-annual e newsletter of UNFPA capturing programmatic news and events.
  • Coordinate and liaise the development of animated infographics, gifs, advanced powerpoints, digital reports (Annual report)

 

India CO website

  • Administer the India CO website by updating it with the latest content and information on programmes, interventions, publications, news, events, videos and resources;
  • Increase visibility of the India CO website by implementing Search Engine Optimization  strategies and drive traffic to relevant pages. Manage/reduce website bounce rate by incorporating engaging content, designs and establishing linkages to other related pages and content;
  • Conduct periodic analysis of the CO website on Google analytics to gauge performance, traffic and other relevant indicators to develop engagement strategies based on data and evidence;
  • Liaise with the HQ team to add and update new content, banners, campaign and landing pages depending on the requirement at the CO level;

 

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Collect and compile data from various digital channels, including social media platforms, websites, e-newsletter, and website traffic
  • Use analytical tools and methodologies to analyze data, identify trends, and extract actionable insights.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to social media engagement, website traffic, user behavior, and other relevant metrics.
  • Use data-driven insights to tailor content and digital marketing efforts to specific audience segments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing impactful and engaging social media campaigns on development issues, and mobilizing user-generated content (UGC) .
  • Proven skills in running ad campaigns on social media to increase followers, reach and engagement. 
  • Candidates who have done certifications like Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and possess digital analytics skills etc., will have an advantage.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content optimization strategies.
  • Basic knowledge of tools such as Canva, MailChimp, and CMS is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communications in English. Basic working knowledge of Hindi is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the fields of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Gender Equality, Youth Empowerment, and Population and Development is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, in an international and multicultural environment.
