About Job Profile

Project Management/Coordination

WWF-India invites applications from dynamic biologists, with a zeal to work in Dehradun Programme Office in Uttarakhand.

Senior Project Officer-Species’ primary role will be to anchor and advance WWF-India's program activities in the Terai Arc Landscape, Rajaji-Shivalik Complex, which will entail the following:

  • Lead species monitoring and on-ground implementation of conservation activities in Rajaji-Shivalik complex, TAL.
  • Responsible for data compilation, analysis and report writing pertaining to species and habitats conservation initiatives.
  • Integrate species monitoring with HWC & community-conservation initiatives in the landscape.
  • Coordinate with forest department to implement LEM (Law Enforcement & Monitoring) support activities

Primary Responsibilities include

Programme Development

  • Collaboratively design scientific studies in Rajaji-Shivalik complex with focus on Species monitoring, Habitat monitoring, Corridor and connectivity, Human-wildlife interface and coordinate LEM support work & capacity building of frontline staff.

 

Programme Implementation

  • Assist line manager in Planning, monitoring and facilitating project implementation in Rajaji-Shivalik complex with focus on Species monitoring, Habitat monitoring, Corridor and connectivity, Human-wildlife interface, LEM support, capacity building of frontline forest staff, data management and analysis.

 

Networking & Advocacy

  • Effective liaisoning and coordinating with stakeholders including Govt. department (s), Institutions(s), and NGOs for any issue pertaining to planning and implementation of project activities in the landscape. Work with local communities and other stakeholders to implement and address conservation issues in the landscape.

 

Reporting

  • Assist line manager in timely submissions of reports (Monthly reports, progress reports, TPRs) and other communications. Prepare technical reports, publish scientific papers and provide management-relevant reports.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Masters in Wildlife Science/ Life Sciences/ Zoology/ Botany/ Forestry/ Environmental Science/Forest Management with 60% marks.
  • Five years of experience in working in wildlife/ conservation related issues. 
  • ?Experience in wildlife monitoring, knowledge of analytical methods/software used to monitor terrestrial mammals is essential. Knowledge of flora of the region & Habitat ecology would be an added advantage.
