Senior Program Officer - Sustainable Infrastructure Finance WWF-India 2023

About Job Profile

Project Management/Coordination

Identify strategic partners and initiate dialogue, and strategic areas of intervention with the infrastructure finance stakeholders, including associations, regulators, policymakers, national and international financial institutions, institutional investors, multilateral development organizations and engineering and consulting firms.

Primary Responsibilities include

  • Review the existing policies and guidelines of financial institutions that support the implementation of natural resource safeguards in linear infrastructure plans and projects as required or encouraged by financial institutions
  • Form working groups comprised of institutions with significant linear infrastructure investments, academia, civil society organizations, and government representatives to encourage the uptake of safeguards by financial institutions in their lending and investing practices
  • Facilitate the development and delivery of informational materials, web-based modules, and related workforce training programs that further the professional development of LI practitioners
  • Inform on key trends within the thematic that have or could have implications on sustainability across the sector
  • Represent WWF-India for some of the meetings with key stakeholders and also as part of workshop sessions
  • Support engagement with policymakers and corporate leaders
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with senior Government officials, specifically the regulators including RBI /SEBI/Ministry of Finance/Ministry of corporate affairs etc., associations like IBA, CII, FICCI, private sector players, civil society (national, and international) and other stakeholders
  • Participate in sector reviews, multi-stakeholder monitoring, audits and evaluation
  • Backstop the WWF India senior staff engaged in this thematic when they are not available for important meetings or events. Work closely with the Director, Governance, Law and Policy Programme, Team Leader, Brahmaputra Landscape and Director, Wildlife Landscapes to map out and document the Constitutional and legal provisions across North-East India that promote and enable inclusive conservation approaches.
  • Work with the Landscape Coordinators in WAL and BHL to develop strategies and roadmaps, based on customs and history of tenure and custodianship of natural resources by local communities, to promote community-based conservation work in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Karbi Anglong region in Assam and undertake scoping activities for similar initiatives in other states in the region.
  • Assist in developing project proposals and fund-raising for implementing the strategies as required, particularly for alliance building and advocacy initiatives to promote inclusive conservation approaches across the region.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Planning or a related discipline and a Post-graduate degree in environment sciences, sustainability/ sustainable finance or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of job experience post Master’s degree (or academic qualifications in lieu)
  • Sustainability/corporate sector, work specifically related to sustainable finance, financial disclosures, portfolio assessments, nature and finance or closely related fields would be an advantage.
