Project Management/Coordination

Jhpiego is seeking a highly motivated Senior Program Officer based in New Delhi for its USAID-funded RISE project.  The Senior Program Officer, Lab Quality, operating under the National Program Officer for AMR and Lab Quality, will play a pivotal role in elevating laboratory quality standards within the Health Security and AMR program. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to strengthening laboratory capacity and advancing Zoonoses diagnostics and AMR containment measures.

Primary Responsibilities include

Laboratory Quality Enhancement:

  • Collaborate with the National Program Officer to design, develop, and implement strategies to enhance laboratory quality standards across project sites.
  • Provide technical expertise to establish quality assurance mechanisms, proficiency testing, and internal audits.

 

Capacity Building and Training:

  • Develop and facilitate training programs and knowledge resources for laboratory personnel, focusing on laboratory management, quality control, biosafety, and AMR surveillance.
  • Empower laboratories to adhere to global quality standards and best practices.

 

Quality Assurance Oversight:

  • Monitor and assess laboratory performance against established quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with laboratories to address identified gaps and deficiencies through targeted interventions.

 

Laboratory Network Strengthening:

  • Collaborate with national and state-level partners to establish and strengthen laboratory networks for AMR surveillance and response.
  • Support the integration of laboratory data into broader surveillance systems.

 

Technical Advisory Role:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to laboratory personnel, ensuring compliance with laboratory regulations and guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory-related policies and protocols.

 

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of laboratory data.
  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare accurate and timely laboratory-related reports.

 

Collaborative Partnerships:

  • Collaborate closely with national and state health authorities, partners, and stakeholders to align laboratory quality efforts with broader health system goals.
  • Engage in inter-departmental and cross-sectoral collaboration.

 

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Explore innovative technologies and best practices to enhance laboratory quality and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of new approaches to address emerging challenges.

 

Miscellaneous:

  • Any tasks assigned by the supervisor or the head of the department of the Center for One Health.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory quality standards, biosafety, and AMR surveillance.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs for laboratory personnel.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with national and international laboratory regulations and guidelines is desirable.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
  • Familiarity with the Indian public health system, newer initiatives in the health sector, and relevant government policies/ strategies particularly the National Health Mission, and Ayushman Bharat.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for workshops and coordination activities.
