Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Senior Program Officer based in Patna, Bihar. The position will support the strengthened capacity of the Bihar Nurses Registration Council (BNRC) and the State Nursing Directorate in regulation, management, and leadership, thereby ensuring the development of a strong and competent nursing-midwifery cadre in Bihar.

Primary Responsibilities include

  • Work closely with state and district teams for implementation of annual work plan as per agreed deliverables and respective timelines
  • Liaison with state Government/ State Health Mission (NHM), Bihar Nurses Registration Council (BNRC) officials and private sector for smooth project management and respond to the requests in a timely manner
  • Work with Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team for reporting on project related indicators, baselines, targets etc. to meet state and donor requirements
  • Technical support to the Digital Transformation and technology piece of the program at the state level. Engagement with key state level stakeholders
  • Develop an Online portal along with BNRC for Nursing Students which include the admission/Bio-Matric Attendance -for Academic and Clinical posting, Internal Marks, Examination Results and Registration and complete digitalisation of the BNRC web site
  • Monitor the state’s nursing establishments as per the guidance of the BNRC and INC
  • Coordinate with the state govt. and MoHFW, GOI for planning in-service trainings of clinical nursing personnel in the state in line with GoI initiatives/ directives.
  • Liase with all stakeholders for development of research pool and grants from the state Govt.
  • Coordinate with IT Team in ICO for Maintain the IT/computer lab for its optimal function by assisting end user system updates and monitoring which includes: Patch management, spyware removal and testing, virus checking, etc.
  • Prepare and implement appropriate annual budget for the IT department for the implementation of Program
  • Respond in a timely manner to requests for meetings, reports and other requests.
  • Facilitate project activities including trainings, on-site coaching, workshop planning, logistics planning and management to ensure smooth project implementation
  • Develop and produce documents like situation analysis reports, assessment reports, success stories, gap analysis plans, procurement plans etc. as per the program need and local context
  • Represent Jhpiego at national and state-level meetings involving government and development partners
  • Frequent travel to the districts as per the project and organizational requirements
  • Align and ensure efficient and effective administrative operations, maximizing the input and support of other Jhpiego staff and consultants as appropriate
  • Perform other activities, as assigned by the supervisor to achieve organizational goals
  • Any other task assigned from time to time

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Previous experience of working in Nursing programs is desirable
  • Technical knowledge and field experience of implementing large scale public health programs
  • Strong technical expertise, good management skills, and extraordinary communication skills are the essentials for this position.
