About Job Profile

Support and office management

The Senior Reporting officer is responsible for ensuring the quality and timely delivery of all external versions of country plans, revisions, and reports for a selected IFRC region (i.e., Africa, Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and North Africa).

The Senior reporting officer will work under the direct supervision of the Lead of the Global Strategic Planning and Reporting Centre to undertake the defined tasks.

Primary Responsibilities include

  • Extract and reshape information from internal unified country plans and reports for the drafting of the external documents
  • Ensure coherence of the descriptive content with the templates for external plans and reports
  • Capture in writing the National Societies profiles, including their auxiliary and historical roles, strategic priorities, main areas of work, and recent scope and scale of action
  • Verify alignment of action described with the IFRC results-matrix
  • Ensure consistent, clear and strong descriptions of the National Societies profiles, including by looking into their Strategic Plans, annual reports and websites
  • Carry out additional research on the overall context (geographical, political, socio-demographic, economic dimensions) and thematic priorities (climate and environment, disasters and crises, health and well-being, migration and displacement, values power and inclusion) where necessary to improve the different sections
  • Check all sources, insert hyperlinks and update data from trusted secondary sources
  • Check primary sources coming from the IFRC network data, assessments, reports and other analyses and use as appropriate to strengthen the external documents, including to describe the National Society coordination with public authorities
  • Use information from IFRC past and ongoing Emergency Appeals and DREF to provide concrete information on humanitarian trends and needs, recurring disasters, and National Society actions
  • Ensure clear descriptions of the contributions of the IFRC and the membership, under each strategic priority and enabling function, as well as under the membership coordination section
  • Check sensitivities in the particular context on any parts of the context analysis and action by the National Society, and keep track of such sensitivities over time
  • Ensure professional editing and formatting
  • Prepare a draft 0 for peer-review within the Global Strategic Planning and Reporting Centre, and contribute to the peer-review of other countries
  • Prepare a draft 1 after peer-review to share with the IFRC Head of Delegation, keeping the region in copy
  • Ensure the draft 1 points to parts requiring clarifications, including on possible gaps between the description of the problem and the action proposed/value-added of the National Society.
  • Follow-up on the timeline provided for feedback by the delegation:
  • Post the final versions of the external plans and reports in the IFRC Entreprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Ensure edits requested by the delegations are inserted timely, validated by the Lead of the Global Strategic Planning and Reporting Centre, and revised versions posted
  • Check the ifrc.org Appeals database regularly to ensure the most up-to-date version of the plans and reports are available

  •     Advanced Computer skills: Windows, Word Processing, PowerPoint, Excel (Spreadsheet and database application) and ability to use video conferencing application i.e., Microsoft Teams, Zoom etc
  •     Understanding of key elements of monitoring and evaluation plans and strategies
  •     Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Able to achieve results through collaboration/teamwork
  •     Excellent command of written English and fluent spoken English
  •     Good command of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish, Arabic)
