About Job Profile

Research and Field Work

The Postdoctoral Researcher, Arthan, India is responsible for air quality monitoring, data analysis, source identification, air pollution dispersion, receptor modeling, data collection from the primary and secondary sources. They will be required to independently design the study, data collection, analysis, and scientific research paper writing.
 

Primary Responsibilities include

 

  • Research design, Air quality sampling, Air quality data analysis, source apportionment study, emissions inventory
  • Technical reports and paper writing
  • Liaise with experts in India, global experts, and researchers to facilitate the development of high-quality research
  • Carry out field visits, assist in air quality monitoring administration exercises. Assist in installation of sensors and data collection 
  • Assist in primary and secondary data collection and emission inventory. Maintain records of surveys.  
  • Assist project manager and technical partners on monitoring and data analysis  
  • Make sure all collected data passes QA/QC standards. Data analysis using MS Excel and Origin, or other similar graphing software.  
  • Conduct literature survey and secondary research for all projects 
  • Research and analysis – using primary and secondary data.  
  • Comprehensive research on organizations and institutions conducting research on air pollution.
  • Assist with creating a database of research and studies conducted on air pollution; this may include both research online and interviews in person.
  • Produce analytical briefings and reports on key findings from research including topics listed above and ad hoc.
  • Assist, coordinate and manage with on?going air quality?related projects in India
  • Participate in advancing Arthan diversity, equity, and inclusion goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with Arthan values
     

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Strong background in atmospheric science, air quality sampling, air quality research.
  • Significant background in handling and processing large data sets.
  • Good experience in field experiment environmental sensing/measurement.
  • Full-time work experience (optional) with knowledge and use of air quality instruments is desirable after/during Ph.D. International work/study experience will be valuable
  • Demonstrated exceptional ability (through published work, articles, etc.) to write and comprehend effectively
  • Strong analytical research skills -ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, both orally and in writing, with English fluency.
  • Full proficiency of MS Office Suite 
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Hindi is essential, ability to speak additional local languages is desirable 
  • Experience in writing reports, briefs, and papers 
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds
