• Establish processes and systems for integration of Informal sector stakeholders’ citizens, waste pickers, small aggregators, and small recyclers in the Project for inclusive growth and development.
• Map/Identification of existing informal sector networks and location (including informal collectors, small and large kabaddiwalas) in project locations.
• Map/Identification of existing schemes and coordination with different departments of state and central government for linking them with the project.
• Prepare and Implement city-specific strategies for institutionalization and strengthening of informal waste sector activities.
• Creation of Knowledge Products and Training Module to educate and empower on rights and social entitlements of Informal sector participants including waste pickers.
• Ensuring the Access of social protection entitlements as per the provisions in the Municipal Solid Waste (Management and Handling) Rules (SWM), 2016, Plastic Waste Management Rules (PWM), 2018, and Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban).
• Ensuring the Financial Inclusion – Opening of bank accounts for Safai Sathis and using Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) for receiving their salaries, linking them to self-help groups (SHGs) for an alternate source of income.
• Develop and Create cadre of trained staff/volunteer/ULB team to ensure execution of social protection programme at grassroot level for Informal Waste Pickers.
• Experience in undertaking studies, develop proposals will be an added advantage.
• Develop framework for strengthening social protection systems for Safai Sathis through establishment of facilitation centers at the ULB level.
• Support for governments in the development and coverage of national strategies, policies and laws concerning social protection.
• Facilitate to identify key indicators for various studies in the field like the baseline study/impact evaluation study or end line study.
• Facilitate and support Team members at PMU, in setting up a dynamic monitoring and evaluation systems for monthly monitoring and reporting of projects.
• Helps in organizing the fairs, exhibitions, and related skill/knowledge management workshops.
• Perform any other tasks assigned from time to time by the senior management.

Good analytical, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills on the impacts from the project. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Power point, Project etc.).

Knowledge of solid and plastic waste management will be an added advantage.

About the Project:
Centre for Environment Education is implementing a project on ‘Rural & Urban Landscapes Free of Dry Waste & Plastics’. This is one of the initiatives of HDFC Bank and CEE at the national level, implementing in 10 cities and 140 villages. The project aims to minimize negative impacts and risks to environment and to human health in the pilot areas in both rural and urban and promoting ZERO WASTE MODEL APPROACH - zero landfills, zero plastic burning and zero Emissions, and Zero wastages in Dry waste management in India.

The strategy is to have a multi stakeholders approach through an integrated model directed to address immediate causes with support from HDFC BANK and co-financing funding (both in-cash and in-kind) from the state and central government funds, NGOs/Companies contributions as waste management agencies (WMAs), by establishing an Swachh Sustainable Business Models (SSBMs) for improved dry & plastic waste management by establishing – DRY WASTE Material Recovery Facilities as Swachh Centres (SCs), in line with the emerging MOEFCC GOI “National Resource Efficiency Policy” and the “National Materials Recycling Policy”.
