To liaison with concerned officials, technology partners and other stakeholders in biomedical waste management. To identify gaps and suggest solutions for improving implementation of BMWM rules. To coordinate for meetings/seminars with the stakeholders for biomedical waste management.
 

Primary Responsibilities include

 

  • Work with the Biomedical Waste Management (BMWM) division for day-to-day activities of the division.
  • To compile reports of registered health care facilities with regard to bio-medical waste generation, treatment and disposal.
  • To assist/support operational research and assessment with reference to risks to environment and health due to bio-medical waste and previously unknown disposables and wastes from new types of equipment.
  • To coordinate with State Pollution Control Boards for organizing training programmes to staff of health care facilities and municipal workers on bio-medical waste.
  • To assist in Constitution of Expert Committees at National level for overall review and promotion of clean or new technologies for bio-medical waste management.
  • Organizing trainings for the regulatory authorities and health care facilities on bio-medical waste management related activities.
  • To assist in creation and conduct of mass awareness campaigns in electronic media and print media.
  • To liaison with concerned officials, technology partners and other stakeholders in biomedical waste management.
  • To identify gaps and suggest solutions for improving implementation of BMWM rules.
  • To coordinate for meetings/seminars with the stakeholders for biomedical waste management.
  • Assist to improvise technical guidelines for reviewing implementation of the BMWM rules reference to services, human resource management, infrastructure, equipment, drugs and capacity building.
  • Additional technical roles (annual report, publications, studies etc.) within assigned areas.
  • Undertake any other related assignments, which may be assigned from time to time.
  • The consultant will work for the Directorate General of Health Services and may be required to travel within country.

Established in 2007, the National Health Systems Resource Centre, a premier Think Tank for MoHFW, is mandated to assist in policy and strategy development in the provision and mobilization of technical assistance to the states and in capacity building for the Ministry of Health.

National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) has been set up under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) of Government of India to serve as an apex body for technical assistance.

Established in 2006, the National Health Systems Resource Centre's mandate is to assist in policy and strategy development in the provision and mobilization of technical assistance to the states and in capacity building for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) at the centre and in the states.The goal of this institution is to improve health outcomes by facilitating governance reform, health systems innovations and improved information sharing among all stake holders at the national, state, district and sub-district levels through specific capacity development and convergence models.

It has a 23 member Governing Body, chaired by the Secretary, MoHFW, Government of India with the Mission Director, NRHM as the Vice Chairperson of the GB and the Chairperson of its Executive Committee. Of the 23 members, 14 are ex-officio senior health administrators, including four from the states. Nine are public health experts, from academics and Management Experts. The Executive Director, NHSRC is the Member Secretary of both the Governing body and the Executive Committee. NHSRC's annual governing board meet sanctions its work agenda and its budget.

The NHSRC currently consists of seven divisions – Community Processes, Healthcare Financing, Healthcare Technology, Human Resources for Health, Public Health Administration, Knowledge Management Division, Quality Improvement in Healthcare

The NHSRC has a branch office in the north-east region of India. The North East Regional Resource Centre (NE RRC) has functional autonomy and implements a similar range of activities.
