Research and Field Work

As a Lifecycle Carbon Assessment Lead on our team, you will lead Lifecycle Assessments (LCAs), including providing everyday technical guidance to carbon modelling support teams, conducting detailed QAQC, and presentation of outcomes to the lead teams and/or clients. Through robust modeling and assessments, you will advise lead teams and/or clients on strategies and pathways to achieve their decarbonization targets. Additionally, as part of this role, you will closely interface with other Technical Leads across AECOM’s Global Carbon Practice and provide expert guidance to AECOM’s global and cross-business line teams on methodologies, software selection and quality assurance. In addition, you will support the development of innovative ESG solutions  which reflect optimal environmental outcomes for new and existing projects whilst balancing client objectives.

You will have the opportunity to participate in other sustainability initiatives, such as developing and deploying educational/training content, providing mentorship to support upskilling of staff as it relates to carbon modeling, engaging with AECOM’s Technical Practice Groups (TPGs) and supporting research initiatives with AECOM Innovation Lab (iLab).

The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual with an excellent understanding of LCA methodologies, Greenhouse gas (GHG) assessment and reporting frameworks and decarbonization requirement to comply with various third-party certification systems across multiple countries and various sectors. The candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and communicate innovative solutions for decarbonization with a focus on embodied carbon and whole life carbon reduction. Flexible work schedules will be required to accommodate clients and project team meetings in various time zones.

Primary Responsibilities include

 

  • Lead LCA modeling and other decarbonization assessments for diverse set of projects across multiple countries.
  • Provide technical guidance to carbon modeling teams to drive the robust analyses and comply with AECOM’s technical quality standards
  • Occasionally conduct LCA modeling using Oneclick LCA or other LCA software for certain complex projects to demonstrate best practices
  • Provide QAQC support for LCA projects conducted within different regions and business lines
  • Guide the process of collecting and interpreting complex client data sets, including conducting, organizing, and synthesizing research related to carbon data, methodologies, and standards
  • Understand and technically interpret the requirements and metrics for compliance with LEED, ENVISION, ILFI, CDP, GRI, GRESB, and other third-party certifications
  • Present the outcomes from LCA modeling to lead teams and/or clients and stakeholder using concise presentations, simplified illustrations, and graphs
  • Lead internal knowledge sharing and support skills development for staff
  • Interface with other Technical Leads across AECOM’s Global Carbon Practice and provide expert guidance to AECOM’s global and cross-business line teams on methodologies, software selection and quality assurance.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Demonstrated expertise with LCA/Embodied Carbon modeling and complex data analysis using software such as Oneclick LCA, Tally, Athena, EC3, or similar
  • Experience with LEED, ENVISION, ILFI or similar Green Buildings Certification
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills with an ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the following preferred: GHG Protocols, CDP, GRI, GRESB, ILFI, SDGs
  • Experience with Revit/BIM is a plus
