About Job Profile

The position will work as part of HelpAge India’s core team and will support & create opportunities with foundations, corporates, grant-making institutions within India and globally. The purpose of the position is to support growth in programs and projects by helping secure funding opportunities aligned with our mission and priorities, to create sustainable impacts in the elderly lives.

Primary Responsibilities include

  • Research & identify potential funding opportunities (grants, awards etc.) with institutional donors (including bilateral and multilateral), foundations, philanthropy, and others.
  • Ability to study & comprehend alignments across key strategic themes that HelpAge India focuses on. Build a strong understanding of programs, initiatives and priorities and use it effectively for development of grant proposals
  • Write/Develop persuasive grant proposals and accompanying documents including budgets keeping in view the grant purpose, funding guidelines and related requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams & internal stakeholders (program, finance, admin, etc) to coordinate & gather relevant information and data for grant applications.
  • Work with external funders/nodal points, build partnership and relationships, and join/attend networking meetings/events as may be required.
  • Maintain a system of tracking pipeline of grant opportunities/proposals, monitoring progress on specific proposals’ development and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Periodically, evaluate the effectiveness of the proposal development process, capture learnings and suggest improvement areas.
  • Undertake other responsibilities not outlined above which are commensurate with a role of this nature in the charitable sector and which have been discussed and agreed between line manager and incumbent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability in excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English with experience of proposal and report writing
  • Graduation in fields like communication, journalism, social work or non-profit/social enterprise management will be preferred, from a reputed university. Advance degree is desirable.
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience of which at least 2 years have been in a leading role
  • Strong research and analytical skills to identify funding opportunities, organise information and able to use technology/tools relevant for the role
  • Ability to work effectively between teams as well as independently,
  • Proficiency in using technology platforms and tools (MS Office mainly WORD, EXCEL, PPT).
  • Open to travel within city and outstation
  • Ability to work in demanding and result-oriented environment
  • Self-motivated and solution/result oriented

Currently there are a projected 138 million elderly in India. HelpAge India voices their concerns, so they can lead secure & dignified lives. It works through 26 State Offices across India, runs numerous programs on-ground, addressing elder needs and advocating for their rights, such as their right to Universal Pension, quality Healthcare, action against Elder Abuse and many more at a national, state and societal level with Central and State governments. It advocates for elder friendly policies and their implementation thereof.

The organisation’s programs are focused on direct interventions in the areas of Healthcare (mobile healthcare units, cataract surgeries), Agecare (helplines, senior citizen care homes and day care centres, physiotherapy),  Livelihoods (elder-self-help groups; linkages with government schemes), Disaster Response (e.g. covid19 relief response), as well as Advocacy and Awareness on rights and policies relating to elders.

All donations to HelpAge India are eligible for 50% tax exemption under section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961
