PHIA Foundation is looking forward to recruiting a District-level Human-Centred Design (HCD) Officer who will play a pivotal role in the Health System Strengthening Program, contributing to the development and support implementation of innovative, user-centric approaches to enhance the quality and accessibility of healthcare services at the district level. The person should have an understanding on the human centric designs and willing to build on these approaches through innovative designs and solutions. 

Primary Responsibilities include

  • Lead the integration of human-centred design methodologies into health system strengthening activities at the district level.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to apply HCD principles to the development of healthcare policies, programs, and services.
  • Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and observations, to gather insights and inform the design of context-appropriate healthcare solutions.
  • Facilitate community engagement sessions to gather feedback, identify needs, and involve local communities in co-designing healthcare interventions.
  • Build strong relationships with community members, healthcare providers, and stakeholders to ensure their active participation in the design process.
  • Translate community insights into actionable recommendations to improve healthcare service delivery and patient experiences.
  • Provide training and mentorship to district-level healthcare staff on human-centred design methodologies, fostering a culture of innovation and user-centric thinking.
  • Monitor and evaluate the program's progress to ensure that it is meeting its objectives and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Build strong relationships with program partners, including government officials, health facility staff, and community members.
  • Ensure compliance with program policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks and challenges.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous experience in applying human-centred design methodologies to complex challenges, preferably within the healthcare sector is a big plus.
  • Strong understanding of health systems, community engagement, and healthcare service delivery models is crucial.
  • Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders, build relationships, and drive collaboration.
  • Proficiency in conducting qualitative research, data analysis, and translating insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results within a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Adaptability and a growth mindset, open to learning and incorporating feedback to continuously improve approaches and outcomes.
