About Job Profile

Project Management/Coordination

Emergency nutrition, health, WASH and food security projects targeting displaced, conflict- and drought-affected vulnerable populations in central and southern Afghanistan.

Primary Responsibilities include

Working as a senior member of a diverse team who are committed to serve the world’s most vulnerable with practical and compassionate care, the Consortium Coordinator manages the BHA funded consortium, consisting of three INGO partners, including Medair as lead agency. Overall responsibility for coordination, implementation, reporting, and operational oversight.

Partner Coordination and Communication

  • Primary contact for consortium partners during the life of the grant period
  • Responsible for reviewing, compiling and collating reports of partners and Medair, ensuring overall quality of the consortium is being upheld
  • Flag issues to Country Director and consortium steering committee as required
  • Lead monthly member representatives meeting with partners, ensuring that issues are elevated to the steering committee as necessary
  • Enable information sharing and partner communication in a spirit of collaboration
  • Build and foster healthy working relationships with consortium partner staff

Grant Management

  • Monitor progress of consortium towards achieving project targets, flagging any concerns to the consortium steering committee
  • Monitor consortium expenditure and forecasting, liaising with partners on under/over spend as required
  • Compile and synthesise reports from all consortium partners to produce timely and accurate donor reporting

Financial Management

  • Maintain link between partner finance departments and Medair finance
  • Ensure smooth, timely cash flow to consortium partners, ensuring partners understand cash request requirements
  • Ensure compliance requirements maintained within consortium, including audit notification and coordination

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Experience of working with BHA funded grants
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Self-motivated, energetic, hard-working, servant-hearted
  • Team-player with good inter-personal skills
  • Positive communicator and ability to handle conflict
  • Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels
  • Able to cope with basic living conditions in the field and during field trips
  • Writing and synthesising skills
  • Advanced leadership and management skills
  • Able to oversee multiple tasks, prioritising and delegating as required

 

Other Information:

Risk Management

  • Ensure consortium partners are fully aware of agreed incident reporting requirements
  • Follow-up on any reports received and flag to County Director and Head of Country Programmes for donor reporting as required
  • Ensure that consortium partners have appropriate mechanisms in place for proper support, oversight and monitoring of activities
