About the Research Fellowship

The CBPS’ Research Fellowship commenced last year as we celebrated our 25th Year Anniversary. The Fellowship aims to help scholars develop research skills in the areas of Education, Gender, Governance, Health & Nutrition, Public Finance, Livelihoods and Social Security.

The fellows will work in the CBPS office located in Bengaluru and will work with our research staff to gain valuable experience, support, and learnings in a collegial and academically rigorous environment which includes in-house talks, seminars as well as other public events. With the help of a mentor, the fellowship will allow scholars to be part of the ongoing research projects in an area of interest to the scholar.

The fellowship does not provide funds for housing, transportation, or any other financial support.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

Who should apply? The Fellowship is primarily geared towards scholars who have recently completed their Bachelor’s or are in the final year of their undergraduate programme. CBPS especially encourages applications from scholars from historically underrepresented groups, including those underrepresented in terms of class, caste, gender, religion, linguistic affiliation, firstgeneration scholars etc. Scholars from various disciplines and methodological approaches are invited.

The Fellowship aims to help scholars develop research skills in the areas of Education, Gender, Governance, Health & Nutrition, Public Finance, Livelihoods and Social Security. The Fellows will be working in the CBPS office located in Bangalore and will interact with our research staff to gain valuable experience, support, and learnings in a collegial and academically rigorous environment which includes in-house talks, seminars as well as other public events. With the help of a mentor, the Fellowship will allow scholars to be part of the ongoing research projects in an area of interest to the scholar. Apart from a stipend of Rs. 25,000/- per month, the CBPS Research Fellows will also have access to office spaces and associated facilities including internet and use of the library. The Fellowship, however, does not provide funds for housing, transportation, or any other financial support.

Centre for Budget and Policy Studies (CBPS) is a research based institution that was established in Bangalore, India, in February 1998, as an independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit society, registered under the Societies Registration Act. It was formed as an off-shoot from a research programme in the Development Research Foundation (DRF), a part of Technology Informatics Design Endeavour (TIDE), also a non-profit society in Bangalore.
