New Delhi, March 28, 2024: Global lubricant manufacturer and engine oil producer Valvoline Cummins Private Limited has awarded laptops and educational aids to the children of mechanics, drivers and those belonging to the EWS under its Muskan Scholarship initiative.
The company has been consistently supporting the mechanic community, aiding in their skill development, and acknowledging their contributions.
At the recently organized Mechanics Meet at Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar in New Delhi, Valvoline Cummins expressed gratitude to the mechanics and honoured their families. In a gesture of support, the company awarded laptops and educational aids to the children of mechanics, drivers and those belonging to the EWS under its Muskan Scholarship initiative.
"Through initiatives like the Muskan Scholarship program, Valvoline Cummins reaffirms its commitment to empowering communities and nurturing the potential of young minds. We believe in creating opportunities that transcend barriers, allowing every child to pursue their dreams regardless of their circumstances," said Gaurav Dang, Vice President Finance Asia, Valvoline.
In addition to that, Cummins India felicitated students with engineering college scholarship under their Scholarship Program, Nurturing Brilliance. The Muskaan initiative aims to provide educational assistance to the children of Drivers and Mechanics and those belonging to the EWS. Moreover, Valvoline Cummins’ employee volunteered their time outside of work hours to mentor the scholarship recipients, guiding them in various aspects of life. To date, the scholarship has benefited 3660 children, with ongoing support planned.
Sandeep Kalia, Managing Director of Valvoline, expressed pride in the initiative, emphasizing the company's commitment to prioritizing people and giving back to society. He highlighted the Muskan Scholarship program to secure the future of mechanic families' children, enabling them to pursue their aspirations despite challenging circumstances.
Recognizing the educational challenges exacerbated by the pandemic, Valvoline Cummins initiated the Muskan Scholarship in 2021 in partnership with Synergie NGO, addressing the alarming dropout rates among high school students, particularly in Delhi, where 15% of enrolled students have been absent from classes. This scholarship program supports students in grades 9 through 12, aiming to mitigate the impact of financial strain on their education.
Valvoline has a history of supporting mechanics worldwide, exemplified by the recent launch of the fourth edition of the Mechanic Month Campaign, themed 'Mechanics Make the World Better'. This global initiative seeks to foster appreciation for mechanics' tireless work in maintaining vehicles, while also raising awareness about their contributions and encouraging people to express gratitude to their trusted mechanics.
