Ahmedabad, February 5, 2024: Sodexo and Adani have collaborated to provide underprivileged youth with opportunities for livelihood improvement through skill development.

According to the Sodexo officials, the joint initiative will focus on skilling, training, and placement opportunities for youth in remote areas, with the pilot project set to commence in Mundra and Bhuj. With Sodexo leading the training initiative, leveraging its expertise in curriculum development, coaching, on-the-job training, and certification, and the Adani Skill Development Centre providing recruitment and infrastructure support, the program aims to train over 150 youth in Food & Beverage (F&B), Cleaning Services, and General Duty Assistance (GDA) profiles.

“Dedicated to fostering inclusive growth by providing skill development opportunities to youth from remote areas, both organisations aim to bridge the industry skill gap and pave the way for sustainable livelihoods. Based on the success of the pilot, we intend to scale the initiative across the Nation where there is an acute shortage of labour in hospitality and facility management services. Our target is to enable first-time recruitment for 7,000 youth, of which 25% is women representation of our annual frontline hiring,” remarked Sambit Sahu, Managing Director, Sodexo India.

“This transformative initiative reflects a shared commitment to fostering talent, bridging gaps and creating a positive social impact. Both organisations look forward to witnessing the positive transformation of the youth involved in the program. Based on the success of this initiative in Mundra and Bhuj, Adani Skill Development Centre intends to scale similar initiatives in more tier II and tier III cities and remote locations with a target to upskill 500+ youths by 2024,” said Amitkumar Thakker, Operations Head at Adani Skill Development Centre.

The comprehensive eight-week program includes training on NSDC NSQF level 3 and above, along with Sodexo-specific modules, culminating in four weeks of on-the-job training to ensure participants are job-ready. Upon completion, candidates will have the opportunity for recruitment at Sodexo sites nationwide or other relevant industry players.
