Special features of the organization
JSS Vijayawada established under the sponsorship of National Literacy Mission Ministry of Human Resource Development Govt of India and started Vocational Skill Training programmes activities in the area of skill upgradation and livelihood opportunities for the non literate neo literate and rudimentary level groups and youth in rural and urban committees those who are belongs to BPL between the age group of 15 to 35 years , , JSS has involved in different aspects of literacy such identification of target groups motivating the illiterates material development identifying volunteers training of the volunteers supervision evaluation of Centre Based Scheme Mass Programme for Functional Literacy Improved Pace of Content Learning and Total Literacy Campaign and covered nearly two lakhs illiterates with the collaboration of different agencies JSS has adopted Continuing Education Centres , , JSS Vijayawada organized vocational skill training programmes for the following groups , Inmates of Jail , Street Girls , Physically challenged persons , Adolescent School Going Children , Child Labour , Juvenile Delinquents , Minority Youth , Scheduled Caste Youth , Dependents of Ex Servicemen , , JSS Vijayawada was awarded prestigious NLM Unesco Award 2005 for the services of the JSS and its outstanding contribution in the field of Literacy and Adult Education , , JSS has organized awareness campaigns on Savings strength of collective efforts which in turn created awareness among the women residing in villages and slums Making this opportunity as a guiding factor the women of the down trodden sections were formed self help groups in the district with the involvement of the women , , Awareness programmes were conducted in the highway neighbouring villages The areas like gender sensitization safe sex family integrity etc were much focused vocational skills were provided to the victims and their dependents of HIV AIDS with a view to improve their level of confidence there by standard of life
