Special features of the organization
Khagenhat Welfare Organization (KWO) is a non-profit, non-religious, and non-governmental rural base organization, established in 2004. KWO is located at Khagenhat village of Falakata Development Block nearly 50 KMs distance from divisional town in Jalpaiguri and nearly 62 KMs distance from district Head Quarter Alipurduar. KWO has been playing an important role in rural development of West Bengal State. , Khagenhat Welfare Organization covers 12 Gram Panchayats of Falakata Development Block, 16 Gram Panchayats and Municipality Area of Dhupguri Block, 16 Gram Panchayat of Maynaguri Block, 2 Gram Panchayat of Malbazar Block, 1 Gram Panchayat of Rajganj Block and 4 Gram Panchayats of Madarihat Block, of Jalpaiguri District, WB-India. , Activities and achievement of Khagenhat Welfare Organization so far with the help of different funding Agencies are as follows , Women Empowerment - With the cordial support of NABARD and Banks we have formed and made savings link in several bank branches total 750 Women Self Help Group in four blocks namely Dhupguri, Maynaguri, Malbazar and Jalpaiguri Sadar block of Jalpaiguri District under WSHG scheme which is being implementing in several back ward district in India. Throughout the WSHG Scheme Khagenhat Welfare Organisation brought approx 7700 Rural Women under Women Self Help Group. We motivated these groups to maintain Bank linkage, internal-loaning, bank loaning and to start income generation. These groups went through various Livelihood Training Programme and started income generation activities such as firm of goat rear, piggery, and dairy. We are on the track on conduct such training program so that they can upgrade their living standard. Members of women self help group are also confident and enthusiastic to help their family under WSHG umbrella. We conducted different livelihood Training Programme on need based trades with help of NABARD. Khagenhat Welfare Organization conducted LEDP programme in Jalpaiguri districts. This is Pilot project of NABARD. Total 8 trainings among these three trainings is for Mosquito Net Making under Handicrafts and RNFS activity and 5 trainings is for Kitchen Garden and Small animal rearing under agriculture and allied sector. Total 240 participants had been participated in this training programme and doing activities. The KWO this year conducted International Women s Day on 8th March, 2017 at Dhupguri Roy Para with support of NABARD, Jalpaiguri. , Formation of Farmers Club - The Khagenhat Welfare Organisation for improvement of agriculture base activity has been nurturing 30 Farmers Club in Jalpaiguri and 3 Farmers Club in Alipurduar District with support of NABARD. These Farmers Clubs were given training on contemporary modern and organic agriculture base technology. , We have conducted Krishi Mela at different places. The main objective of these Krishi Mela is Technology Exhibition. Farmers of different places used to participate in these Krishi Mela. We conducted exposure visit of Farmers Club at Krishi Bijyan Kendra, North Bengal Agricultural University. Main purpose of exposure visit was to gather information regarding modern agriculture process. The expert of the institution gave knowledge and demonstrated several agriculture basis procedures to farmers. , Improve Primary education of deaf children through Home Based and institutional Educational Support With the support District Mass Education and Extension department, West Bengal Board of Primary Education, SSA and Deaf Child Worldwide Khagenhat Welfare Organisation provided education support to 241 deaf children at their premise. We enrolled in general school and also providing educational support through support centre. Sibling, Parents and Teacher of these children and community person are given training. In Falakata Block of Alipurduar District total 95 deaf children, in Jalpaiguri Sadar block total 76 deaf children and in Dhupguri block of Jalpaiguri District total 70 deaf children has been getting home education support. Parents of deaf children were trained during the time of home based educational support for their child s educational improvement. , Games and Sports for Deaf During this year our four athlete person with disabilities, were participated in 21st National Games for Deaf at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Chennai Tamilnadu. They have won 1 silver and 3 Bronze medal in National Games for deaF.
