Special features of the organization
The core sectors in which Deepalaya is active are , , (1)Education , Different forms of education are provided by Deepalaya to children belonging to the marginalized sections of the society. , In Formal education 3950 children are studying Deepalaya schools , In Non Formal 7669 children are educated, In the Mobile van 375 children are attended. , So 11994 children from the disadvantaged background are currently getting education under various streams... , (2)Gender Equity and women empowerment , The Gender Equity program of Deepalaya is leveraging benefits to around 8800 members of around 700 SHGs which is spread over in Delhi, Uttarakhand and Haryana. This movement of women for economic and social upliftment has made significant changes in the socio economic conditions of around 360 villages of these states. , (c) Community Health. , Through its health intervention Deepalaya advocates for preventive and promotive aspects of health care among the most vulnerable groups of women and children from the Mewat region in Haryana, and slum clusters of Delhi. Every year the organization reaches out to more than 40000 people from these locations through services like rural and mobile clinic, awareness programs, health camps, immunization, behaviour change communication program etc. , (d) Program for the Differently Abled , In this sector, from the very beginning itself Deepalaya adopted a holistic approach to enable the inclusion of the differently Abled in the mainstream society. Apart from giving technical services like speech therapy, special education, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, the organization provided regular services to its clients for procuring certificates, aids & appliances, surgical services, and financial assistance for micro enterprises. Inclusive education was made as the focus of the education program for the children and a significant number of children were mainstreamed every year. , (e) Vocational Training , The vocational training program of Deepalaya gives emphasis on the capacity building of underprivileged youth from the disadvantaged communities of the society. In this regard Deepalaya run two full fledged vocational training Institutes and many training centers in its target locations. , (f) Capacity Building of small and young NGOs , Deepalaya Axis Bank Foundation program showcases another facet of Deepalaya s programs where the organization imbibes values of professionalism, transparency and credibility among small grass root level NGOs. Here Deepalaya is expected to facilitate in identifying, enrolling, coaching and mainstreaming of around 4200 non school going children of 6 to 14 years of age. This is being done through building capacities of 10 grass root NGOs.
