Top Management and Leadership

It’s an interesting time where accelerated adoption of zero emission vehicles is the need of the hour. This needs to happen with research-based evidence, developing proof-of-concepts, and by implementing forward-looking policies and regulations. Our current programs include our focus on electrifying the last mile delivery, and medium and heavy-duty vehicles including the trucks.

Climate Group’s EV100 and EV100+ campaigns bring together over 120 companies committed to shift their fleets to electric vehicles. These initiatives are harnessing the corporate demand. The role will bring together the business voices to effect accelerated EV adoption and drive progressive policy change.

Actively recruiting new companies, engagement with existing membership, managing partnerships, cultivating donor relations, expanding programmatic work, and nurturing the growth of the local Transport team are some of the key areas of responsibilities of this role.

Climate Group is entering into a new strategy period of 2024-27 from July. Our goal for Transport is to build a large demand signal to make electric transportation a reality. This we plan to do by leveraging our network of businesses, and partnerships with civil society/ think tanks.

Primary Responsibilities include

Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead the India Transport team to ensure timely delivery of project milestones and deliverables, financial reporting and budget forecasting, and operational plans. Providing mentorship to the team in delivering our projects effectively, and in guiding them in their development is key to this job role.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders in India and globally, including regular program reviews and reporting.
  • Maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as India-based partners including industry associations, NGOs, think tanks for effective delivery of our projects.
  • Contribute to organizational knowledge through market research, articles and blogs.

Program Development & Strategy

  • Develop and expand our strategy with new ways of corporate engagement and advocacy, including engagement with industry associations, coalitions, CSOs, NGOs, research and think-tank organizations, and other industry-facing programs.
  • Lead the India Transport team to drive corporate outreach and engagement, liaising with global teams.
  • Work closely with the Transport team to cultivate positive relationships and communication with corporate members to maximize their involvement in our work, and leverage this for new memberships.
  • Conduct and lead regular meetings between senior members of partner organizations.
  • Provide predictive and analytical advice on key issues on energy, climate policy and the interconnected role of businesses. Provide regular briefings and represent Climate Group at key leadership forums.
  • Develop researched material, prepare regular policy briefs and develop or refurbish existing toolkits and templates for effective engagement in our ongoing projects.
  • Develop the team for thought-leadership and build organizational capacities.

Fundraising & Finance

  • Collaborate with the global Fundraising team to develop new concepts whilst ensuring resources are in place to implement India strategy.
  • Lead the team to support maintaining funder relations not just through impactful project delivery, but also with regular check-ins and ideation meetings.
  • Drive timely financial reporting and budget forecasting related projects.
  • Working with internal teams to ensure timely payment of financial commitment from donors to vendors and contributions from member companies.

Communications & Events

  • Lead the team to support the delivery of project meetings, and workshops/ conferences.
  • Work with India and global teams to ensure that communications and events align and support the aims of the project and the team’s mission.
  • Support effective external communication of the programs and their impacts through articles, blogs, Twitter feeds, LinkedIn, etc. with support from India and global Communications teams.
  • Represent the organization when required to external stakeholders in conference calls and conferences

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Essential

  • Experience leading a team, including to successful delivery of project objectives
  • Commitment to the mission of Climate Group
  • Experience in private sector relationship management at a senior level 
  • Clear understanding of commercial drivers in the private and public sector  
  • Proven success in developing and delivering impactful projects and/or campaigns 
  • Experience leading strategy development and implementation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of cultural contexts
  • Demonstrable experience of working proactively and independently to achieve campaign objectives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the proven desire to find innovative solutions 
  • A strong desire to develop skills and experience in line with the needs of a rapidly developing campaign
  • Team player with the ability to identify where support is needed, comfortable delivering an administrative workload where necessary alongside more strategic activities

  • Experience working on advocacy, capacity building and/or technical assistance projects aimed at private sector and/or public sector (preferably in climate-related issues) 
  • Experience coordinating and/or developing knowledge products, webinars, and workshops for sharing lessons on projects and knowledge transfer among networks
  • Understanding of how corporate commitment campaigns work to drive change
  • Knowledge and/or experience of electricity markets and/or corporate procurement of renewables
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce, online meeting technologies and social media
