Q. In the context of CtrlS Datacenters' CSR initiatives, could you elaborate on the company's philosophy regarding social responsibility and its approach to making a positive impact on the environment and public infrastructure?
A. CtrlS Datacenters Group, under the leadership of Sridhar Pinnapureddy, advocates the principle that a corporate should demonstrate social accountability to its stakeholders, community, and the public. Our role in society holds a broader significance, bringing benefits to every segment of the community and every facet of life. In the past, we have run several initiatives to support positive social, economic, and environmental outcomes for the community.
Q. Can you elaborate on the company’s recent initiative of pledging Rs 2 Crore to Arignar Anna Zoological Park? What are the specific infrastructure improvement activities planned?
A. CtrlS Datacenters has formalised a partnership with the authorities of Arignar Anna Zoo to advance the cause of infrastructure enhancement and conservation. In commitment to this initiative, CtrlS Datacentres has donated Rs 2 crore. These funds will be directed towards the maintenance and improvement of infrastructure including the construction of new water channels, road development, and other related activities over the next two years. The financial backing to Arignar Anna Zoological Park, which houses more than 2,553 animals from 234 species, reflects our overarching commitment to actively contribute to environmental and public infrastructure causes. This support is also in alignment with zoo's mission to preserve genetic biodiversity and protect animals from extinction, emphasizing the role of zoos in wildlife conservation.
Q. How does CtrlS Datacenters choose its CSR projects, and what criteria are considered in making such decisions? Could you provide more insights into other CSR initiatives led by CtrlS Datacenters?
A. CtrlS wants to make a positive impact through its CSR initiatives and chooses causes that are largely unserved or underserved. CtrlS has in the past contributed towards purchase of vans for Akshaya Patra Foundation; purchased 400 oxygen concentrators and donated them to PHCs, government hospitals, and organizations supporting rural areas during Covid times; sponsored several budding sportspersons enabling them to take part in international competitions. We have also supported noble causes such as supporting children’s medical treatment, education and promoting literature.
Q. Can you elaborate on the organization’s internal policies and strategies, particularly in the context of the recent pledge to Arignar Anna Zoological Park and the broader initiatives undertaken by the company?
A. What we are doing with the historical Arignar Anna Zoological Park is part of our larger philosophy to genuinely make a difference to environment and public infrastructure. CtrlS Datacenters will implement several initiatives under its ‘Planet CtrlS’ program that will aim to make a difference to public on several fronts. We have always believed in sustainability and have actively carried out environment-friendly initiatives.
Q. CtrlS Datacenters has contributed to initiatives like purchasing oxygen concentrators during the Covid times. How does the company view its role in supporting communities during challenging times?
A. We have previously contributed to the acquisition of vans for the Akshaya Patra Foundation, have procured and donated 400 oxygen concentrators to Primary Health Centers (PHCs), government hospitals, and organizations assisting rural areas during the COVID-19 pandemic, and sponsored numerous emerging athletes, facilitating their participation in international competitions. As a responsible corporate entity, we remain committed to giving back to the nation, aligning our actions with the goal of fostering positive social, economic, and environmental outcomes for the community.
Under our 'Planet CtrlS' program, we will undertake several initiatives aimed at making a positive impact on various aspects of public life. Q. In what ways does the organization believe that corporate entities should be socially accountable, and how does this philosophy guide its CSR endeavors?
A. Organizations should envision a broader role for corporations beyond profit-making, emphasizing their duty to positively impact society, the environment, and the community at large. Social accountability is a multi-dimensional commitment. It entails a responsibility to internal stakeholders, including employees, fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes well-being, diversity, and inclusivity. This approach recognizes the significance of a motivated and engaged workforce as an essential component of responsible corporate citizenship.
CtrlS contributes to the broader community's welfare through initiatives that address critical social issues. This encompasses support for education, healthcare, environmental conservation, and other areas that directly impact the quality of life for individuals and communities.
Q. How does CtrlS Datacenters perceive collaboration with NGOs and other sector stakeholders in the context of its CSR activities, and what role does such collaboration play in expediting the company's efforts to make a positive impact on society and the environment?
A. We view collaboration with NGOs and other stakeholders as integral to our CSR efforts. One key aspect of collaboration involves leveraging the expertise and grassroots knowledge that NGOs bring to the table. By working closely with organizations that specialize in various social and environmental issues, they enable us to tailor its CSR programs to address specific challenges effectively. Resource sharing is facilitated through this, enabling us efficiently utilize staff, expertise, and funding for more effective operations.We have worked with NGOs such as United Way of Hyderabad, Vidarbha Relief Committee, Heal a Child Foundation, SAHE and Aurobindo Society for several causes. Furthermore, partnerships with industry associations and educational institutions, contribute to a holistic approach to CSR. By aligning with like-minded entities, we can collectively address broader societal issues.
Q. CtrlS Datacenters has operations in key markets and plans to explore new overseas markets. Could you provide insights into the company's expansion strategy and its approach to sustainability, especially in embracing renewable energy?
A. CtrlS Datacenters is steadfast in its commitment to achieving complete reliance on renewable energy by 2030. Currently, the company is actively investing in expansive solar projects across three states in India totalling 153 MWp. CtrlS Datacenters' commitment to renewable energy is not merely a long-term vision but a tangible roadmap with strategic investments and projects aimed at making substantial strides towards a greener and more sustainable future. The company has ambitious plans for the year 2025, with additional investments earmarked for an extra 250 MW of solar projects. This forward-looking strategy underscores the company's proactive stance in scaling up its renewable energy portfolio. We are also making efforts towards water conservation.
